_______PROPER MUSIC SOCIAL THURSDAY WORKSHEET_______
Everything you need to know is here. What WE WANT YOU TO KNOW is marked +++ so def. give that a read or we'll slap you.
STAY IN TOUCH: I don't want to know what you had for breakfast but I do want to know what you're doing for promo WEEKS before the gig.
+++SOUND: Please keep your volume down as much as possible - the idea is "stripped back", not acoustic exactly, but not Annandale level. 1. We have light house drum sticks we expect you to use. 2. Sing in contact with the mic - it really helps pull a good mix. 3. Ask for milk crates at the bar and put your amps where you can hear them - you don't have ears in yer knees champs.
THE RIG: 4 Shure58s, 4 stands, 3 DIs and a house sound person. Please arrange to SHARE GEAR and bring anything extra you want as there are 3 spare channels on the desk. There isn't sound check.
+++FACEBOOK: Yep, early and often. Headliner please start ONE facebook event for the whole night, titled like so > Headline | Other Band | Other Band . It means all ye other bands' invited peeps know why they're invited cuz they can see their friend's band name not some name they never heard of. Post it on the PMS page (see bottom)
+
Share permissions/host access and be familiar with the other acts. If you don't care about them neither will your friends/fans and we all make more money if people show up early and watch all the bands cuz it's a bar deal not a door charge.
+
Some things you might like to include in the event page are: We have the largest on-tap craft beer selection in Sydney after The Local Tap House and our prices are about 40-50% lower than theirs. There's $1 pool all night. There's free jukebox after the bands finish til 2AM. We play cool tunes between acts but you're welcome to bring an mp3 player/laptop and DJ yo'self too.
PAY - 15%*** of FRONT BAR (not back bar) takings from 8-12pm - minus $90 paid directly to the sound person by the bar. Notification of pay amount is on Monday following the gig.
***After some consistently poor efforts to promote gigs and correspondingly poor turnouts in 2013 we have been forced to look at ways to keep original music viable on Thursday nights in an increasingly competitive market - Regular trading, trivia and our other music nights are giving us much better financial returns. The least bad option seems to be thus: If the artist pay generated is below $330 PMS will take 40% of it to put directly towards advertising our original music nights on community radio. This will not apply to touring acts.
It is not a decision taken lightly and I welcome questions on the rationale. Needless to say, if you promote properly and don't play other shows close to the date this won't effect you. In the long view it is designed to help you by creating better awareness of the venue every gig of the year, including your next one.
DRINK TICKETS AND MEALS - Ask the sound person or the duty manager at the bar for your drink tickets. If the night is cracking ask the duty manager for more later in the night - amounts are at their discretion. You are entitled to a staff discount (20%) in the Bistro, just tell them which act you are in and how many in the band. Don't be shy!
PLAYING TIMES - 8-11* First band on at 8:15 sharp. Last band off at 11:15 sharp. 3 band bills: 8:15-8:45|9:15-10|10:15. 4 band bills: 8:10-8:40|8:55-9:25|9:40-10:10|10:25-11:15
P.s you're welcome to store gear in the cellar - it's got a lift! - and get too drunk to drive home.

Some things you might like to include in the event page are: We have the largest on-tap craft beer selection in Sydney after The Local Tap House and our prices are about 40-50% lower than theirs. $1 Pool.
PAY - Pay is a minimum of $300 and a maximum of $550 and in between is 20% of the bar. Notification of pay figure happens on the Monday following the gig. From that point we will provide an invoice template and tranfer the money to your account.
